A Letter From Shandi to My Future Family

Hi! My name is Shandi, and I’m writing because I think you might be the people I’ve been waiting for.  I’m 6 months old and only 6 pounds, so I’m a tiny little girl. I’m a bit skinny right now, but don’t worry. My foster mom has taken this situation very seriously, and I’m happily accepting all the extra treats required to plump me up! I should probably tell you that I can be a little shy when we first meet. I just need some time to figure out that I’m safe and that you’re one of my people. Once I do, though, you might notice something funny… Wherever you go, there I am. Walking into another room? Four-year-old, 10 lb. Kora has had quite a lot happen in a very short amount of time. Somewhere along the way, this precious girl was dumped. And if that wasn’t enough change for one little dog, Kora arrived with a few extra passengers on board. Sadly, Kora was badly dehydrated when rescued and spent some time at the vet getting fluids. She was very lethargic and we believe her poor condition resulted in a bad outcome for her puppies who all passed soon after they were born. She is an incredibly sweet, gentle and quiet girl. Willy, a 6-year-old, 15 lb. boy is the total package: handsome, happy, and absolutely devoted to his people. He found himself at BARC after being surrendered by his family, and while we may never understand why, what we do know is that Willy is ready to leave the past behind and find the forever home he deserves. Meet Bronxe, a handsome 8-year-old, 25-pound Miniature Schnauzer who recently arrived at SRT after some changes in his family  made it necessary for them to surrender him. And while giving up a beloved family member is never easy, Bronxe is now waiting for someone to show him that losing one home doesn’t mean losing his chance at a forever family. Bronxe is already proving what a wonderful companion he can be. He is currently with a foster family and recently got to go to work with his foster mom, where he was a terrific little office mate. He also went to a hunting camp, where there were four other dogs—and Bronxe handled it like a champ! He did perfectly fine around all of them and settled right in. He rides nicely in the car and is good on a leash, making him ready to join his family on adventures and errands. But there is one thing Bronxe wants you to know: he really doesn’t like being left alone. Hello there! I’m Mylo, an adorable three-year-old male Miniature Poodle, tipping the scales at a petite twelve pounds. With my soft fur, bright eyes, and wagging tail, I’m ready to capture your heart. I found myself at SRT after some changes in my previous family’s life made it impossible for them to keep me. While I had little humans in my life and I did just fine with them, I tend to get a bit nervous when I’m grabbed unexpectedly. So, I think I’d do best in a home without young kids who might startle me. Now a little bit about grooming. When I arrived at SRT, I was a bit of a mess—badly matted and in need of some serious TLC. The “professional” groomer thought I needed sedation to get through it, but my amazing SRT volunteer stepped up and helped me get all cleaned up. It wasn’t the most fun I’ve ever had (hello, muzzle), but now I can see clearly, and I feel so much better! Seems grooming will always be an issue with me, but my foster mom can get me through it with some medication to help keep me calm. It’s just that those clippers are so scary. I’m a social guy who enjoys playing with pups and making sure the perimeter of the yard is safe. I’m house-, crate-, and leash-trained.
