Dak (Houston, TX)

Dak is a sweet 9-year-old, 41-lb Labradoodle who has had his whole world turned upside down in the blink of an eye.  He lost his beloved dad suddenly—and within just a few days, he also lost the home and pup siblings he knew and loved. Sadly, no one in the family was able to take him in. Dak is understandably grieving, but underneath that sadness is an absolute love bug who deserves the chance to feel safe and loved again. His dad took wonderful care of him, and it shows. Dak is house-trained, comfortable in a kennel, walks nicely on a leash, and is a great car rider. What Dak needs now is a quiet, patient family who understands that he may need a little time to decompress and adjust. He prefers being your one and only. At 9 years old, Dak isn’t looking for a wild adventure. He’s looking for something much more important: a soft place to land, a family to trust, and a forever home where he can be loved for the rest of his life. Please don’t overlook the older pups. They have so much love left to give, and Dak is ready to give all of his to someone who will give him a second chance. Could you be the family Dak has been waiting for? Approved adopters, send an email to SRT@SchnauzerRescueTexas.me if interested. Or apply to Adopt on the website. Adoption fee $200

Ducky (Houston, TX)

Ducky, an 8-year-old, 15 lb Miniature Schnauzer mix.  Ducky is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly! He’s mostly a laid-back guy who loves hanging out with his people, especially if it involves curling up beside you on the couch for TV time or an afternoon nap. If you’re relaxing, he’ll happily hop up next to you for snuggles. When he’s not soaking up cuddle time, Ducky has a fun, energetic side! He loves his treats, is a big fan of his Benebone, and isn’t shy about letting everyone know he’s excited with his signature “woo woo!” bark. His goofy personality and happy chatter are sure to make you smile. Like so many others, he tested positive for heartworm disease and will be finishing his treatment by mid-September. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s equal parts couch buddy and playful best friend, Ducky is ready to steal your heart! Adopiton fee $300

Nessie (Houston, TX)

Meet Little Nessie — a tiny survivor with a huge heart.

Nessie was found wandering the streets of Houston during bitterly cold weather, and a kind Good Samaritan stepped in just in time to save her. This brave little girl is about eight years old and now weighs a healthy 12 pounds after lots of good meals and love in foster care. Nessie appears to have a little schnauzer in her mix and has recovered beautifully after having a non-cancerous mass removed. She is now healthy, happy, and ready for her forever home. She gets along well with other dogs, enjoys playing with toys, and even has a playful puppy friend in foster care. However, Nessie would likely love being the center of attention where she can soak up all the cuddles she deserves. Nessie is house-trained, knows how to use a doggy door, and loves curling up in her foster mom’s lap for cozy naps. She is gentle, affectionate, and ready to leave survival mode behind for a life filled with love and comfort. If you are looking for a sweet little companion and loyal lap dog, Nessie may be your perfect match. Be sure to ask for Nessie when you complete your application under the Adopt tab.  Her adoption fee is $300

Briar (Houston, TX)

Meet Briar, one of our adorable Woodland Five: Bramble, Badger, Birch, and Clover. He’s 4 months old, about 15 pounds, and already proving that life with Briar is probably never going to be boring. He and his four siblings didn’t have the beginning they deserved. They were found locked together in a kennel someone had left on the side of the street in the hot sun. But those difficult beginnings haven’t taken away this little guy’s spirit. Now that he’s safe with SRT, Briar is busy doing what puppies are supposed to do: playing, exploring, wrestling with his doggy friends, collecting treasures from the backyard, getting lots of love, and napping hard after all that important puppy business. He’s playful and affectionate and gets along with all the other dogs in his foster home. Briar is kennel trained and still working on house training. He also experienced his very first haircut and appears to have survived. He will need a family ready for all the fun that comes with raising a puppy: continued house training, playtime, patience, and plenty of affection. If you’re looking for a loving little guy with a big personality and a playful spirit, Briar may just be your boy. Click the Adopt tab, complete your application, and ask for Badger as a pup of interest. Adoption fee: $600

Chance (McKinney, TX)

Chance is a handsome 7-year-old, 12-pound white Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears, a docked tail, and a heart that’s waiting for the right person to unlock it. After his owner, a breeder, passed away, Chance came to Schnauzer Rescue Texas for a fresh start. Now he’s looking for a very special adopter who understands that the greatest rewards often come with a little patience. Chance is a quiet, affectionate boy who forms deep bonds with the people he trusts. Once you’ve earned his heart, he’ll happily follow you from room to room, settle beside you on the couch, or curl up nearby while you go about your day. His loyalty is unwavering, and the connection he forms with his person is truly something special. Because of his past, Chance takes time to trust new people. He can be fearful, particularly around men, and has shown fear-based reactivity when he feels threatened or overwhelmed. He has also been protective of his space and the people he loves, and may react to unfamiliar dogs or people if introductions are rushed. His foster family has been working hard to help him build confidence through slow, positive experiences, and he has already made encouraging progress. However, Chance will need an adopter who understands that trust can’t be rushed. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, he will continue to gain confidence and feel secure in his new home. Chance isn’t looking for an active lifestyle. Due to some weakness in his back legs, he’s much happier relaxing than going on long walks. He prefers spending time in a securely fenced backyard where he can explore at his own pace and then return inside for a cozy nap. He’s the definition of a couch companion. He would do best in a quiet, adult-only home with an experienced adopter who is willing to continue helping him learn that the world is a safe place. He may do best as the only dog, although careful, gradual introductions to another calm dog could be successful. Chance is also continuing to work on his house training and developing a consistent daily routine. Like many dogs coming from breeding environments, he’s learning what life as a cherished family member is all about. Chance isn’t the right dog for every family—but for the right person, he will be an incredibly loyal, devoted companion. If you believe in giving shy dogs the time they need to blossom, you’ll discover a loving little soul who simply wants to feel safe and loved. Sometimes the most meaningful relationships are the ones we earn. Could Chance be yours? Ask for Chance as your Pup of Interest when you complete your application under the Adopt tab. Adoption Fee: $300

Dana (San Antonio, TX)

Meet Dana, the spirited little Miniature Schnauzer who’s ready to steal your heart! At just a year old and a snuggly 13 lbs, Dana was found wandering the streets, but now she’s blossoming in her loving foster home. This adorable girl is a bundle of energy and enthusiasm! She thrives in the company of other pups and enjoys playtime like a pro, showcasing her playful personality. Whether she’s chasing after her toys or zooming around the yard, Dana is always on the move, bringing joy to everyone she meets. While Dana is sweet as sugar, she’s still getting used to the idea of relaxation—her little heart is full of energy! She’s mostly housebroken but has had a few accidents as she adjusts to her new surroundings. Not to worry though; with a little more time and guidance, she’ll be a master of the house-training game! Dana isn’t one to bark excessively, making her a calming presence in the home. Although she’s not a fan of being crated, she can settle down with a few gentle “quiet” commands from her human. Just be aware that this little darling is still learning how to enjoy grooming sessions. Combing and nail clipping? Well, let’s just say she prefers to keep her fabulous fur and manicured nails a work-in-progress for now! If you’re an active and loving individual or family ready to provide Dana with the stability and patience she needs, she could be your perfect match!  Could you be the one to give Dana the forever home she deserves? Ask for Dana when you complete your application under the Adopt tab. Adoption fee: $400

Pretty Lady (Houston, TX)

Meet Pretty Lady, a gentle 2-year-old sweetheart weighing 38 pounds who’s ready to find her forever home! Sadly, when her owner moved, they left her behind—but thanks to some kind-hearted Good Samaritans who fed her and reached out to us, SRT was able to rescue this amazing girl from the streets. Pretty Lady had a rough start, arriving with severe matting that required a full shave-down. But she handled her grooming session like a champ—calm, patient, and absolutely perfect during her bath and on the grooming table. At the vet, she was just as well-behaved, showing off her sweet and cooperative nature. This lovely lady has met several new pups and even a cat, all without a hint of drama—she’s truly a social butterfly! She seems to be house-trained and is overflowing with love and kindness. The only little quirk? She gets car sick, so car rides aren’t her favorite. But beyond that, she’s simply perfect. Pretty Lady is searching for a forever family who will cherish her and never leave her behind again. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this incredible girl, be sure to ask for Pretty Lady when you complete your application under the Adopt tab.  Adoption fee $400

Gone are the days of cowering under furniture—Duncan is now following his foster around the house, snuggling in laps, and showering them with the sweetest puppy kisses! Hogkins (Spring, TX)

Hogkins is a handsome 7-year-old, 11-pound chocolate Miniature Schnauzer with the sweetest personality. This adorable little guy was found as a stray with no tags, no microchip, and no one searching for him. When he arrived, his skin and coat were in rough shape, but with a bath, good nutrition, and plenty of love, he’s already on the road to becoming the gorgeous boy he was always meant to be. His foster family can’t say enough wonderful things about him. Hogkins is affectionate, playful, and loves everyone he meets. He happily trots up to strangers for pets, snuggles in laps, plays well with other dogs, and is both potty and crate-trained. During the day, he’s especially devoted to his foster’s son, following him around and soaking up every bit of attention. Hogkins does have one little quirk. At night, he can become fearful around adult men. During the daytime, however, he has no issues at all and is happy to seek out affection from everyone. We don’t know what may have happened in his past to cause this nighttime fear, but with patience and understanding, he’s shown what a loving, trusting little companion he truly is. If you’re looking for a loyal cuddle buddy with a heart full of love, Hogkins may be the perfect addition to your family. Ask for Hogkins as your Pup of Interest when you complete your application under the Adopt tab. Adoption Fee: $300

Thankfully, he has found a loving foster home, and now, he’s ready to start a new chapter! Yoda is a playful pup who thrives in the company of other dogs and loves showering his humans with affection. Whether it’s snuggling up beside you on the couch or following you around the house to ensure you’re safe, he truly is a little companion at heart. He’s already mastered some basic commands like “sit” and “no,” and is eager to learn more as he continues to grow! At night, Yoda is a peaceful sleeper, curling up quietly in his crate. Clover (Hockley, TX)

Clover a year old, 14 lb Miniature Schnauzer mix. She’s a sweet little girl with a big personality packed into her 14-pound frame. Friendly and outgoing, she loves meeting new people and gets along well with other dogs. Mylo (Spring, TX)

Hello there! I’m Mylo, an adorable three-year-old male Miniature Poodle, tipping the scales at a petite twelve pounds. With my soft fur, bright eyes, and wagging tail, I’m ready to capture your heart. I found myself at SRT after some changes in my previous family’s life made it impossible for them to keep me. While I had little humans in my life and I did just fine with them, I tend to get a bit nervous when I’m grabbed unexpectedly. So, I think I’d do best in a home without young kids who might startle me. Now a little bit about grooming. When I arrived at SRT, I was a bit of a mess—badly matted and in need of some serious TLC. The “professional” groomer thought I needed sedation to get through it, but my amazing SRT volunteer stepped up and helped me get all cleaned up. It wasn’t the most fun I’ve ever had (hello, muzzle), but now I can see clearly, and I feel so much better! Seems grooming will always be an issue with me, but my foster mom can get me through it with some medication to help keep me calm. It’s just that those clippers are so scary. I’m a social guy who enjoys playing with pups and making sure the perimeter of the yard is safe. I’m house-, crate-, and leash-trained. Actually, my crate is my safe place, and when I’m not patrolling the yard, that’s where you can find me. Ready to bring a little joy and warmth into your life? Click the Adopt tab, fill out your application, and ask for me, Mylo! My adoption fee is $400

Ask for Bob Bentley as a pup of interest when you complete your application under the Adopt tab. Adoption fee: $400

Davis Avery (Cypress, TX)

Introducing the adorable Davis Avery—a charming 1-year-old, 10 lb. Schnauzer mix who has already captured hearts despite a rough start. Along with six of his furry friends, Davis was found abandoned in a remote area, but luck smiled upon them when a kindhearted stranger came to the rescue! Davis is currently settling into his new foster home with Schnauzer Rescue, where his wonderful foster mom is excited to update you on his personality as she gets to know him better. What we do know is that this little gentleman has a gentle soul. Initially a bit shy, Davis takes his time adjusting to new experiences and is learning to trust—sometimes hesitating to take treats from your hand and still figuring out the joys of lap cuddles. But don’t worry; once he’s comfortable, he’ll snuggle up close and drift off to dreamland in your arms. Davis has a curious nature and loves to follow his buddy Imogen around, although he prefers to keep his meals to himself—he’s too polite to fight for his food! This adorable little follower is looking for a patient and loving home that can guide him as he blossoms into the affectionate companion we know he can be.Could you be the special someone Davis Avery has been waiting for? If you’re interested in bringing this sweet pup into your life, ask for him when you fill out your application under the “Adopt” tab. Adoption fee: $400

Feta (Houston, TX)

I’m Feta, a 9-year-old, 11 lb Miniature Schnauzer with natural ears and a docked tail. I came all the way from Oklahoma to Houston so Schnauzer Rescue could find me a forever home. My former owner was a breeder who passed, and the family immediately looked for rescue to take me in. I made the trip like a champ and made myself right at home with my foster family. I have a crate if I want some downtime, but that doesn’t happen often. I’m house trained with the doggy door. That leash thing is weird though, and I know I’ll catch on eventually, but for now, I get to go out the door when I need to and come back in. It’s fun. I sometimes do a little skip step on my back leg, but the vet said there’s no point in doing any surgery as it could just make it worse. It doesn’t slow me down at all. I may be nine, but you can teach an old dog new tricks. Ask for Feta when you complete your application under the Adopt tab. Adoption fee $200

Alexandria (Houston, TX)

Alexandria is a sweet, gentle girl with a calm and loving personality. She was rescued from a Houston shelter in need of immediate medical attention. She had surgery to remove bladder stones and has made a full recovery. She’s about eleven years old and weighs about twenty-three pounds.  She enjoys her daily walks, always happy and well-behaved—she’s never had an accident in the house! Whether snoozing in her cozy crate or relaxing on the couch, she loves her downtime. She’s a mostly quiet girl, but she’ll let you know when she’s ready to go out by giving a little bark. She does not react to other dogs on walks; she’s very easygoing and confident. While Alexandria isn’t clingy, she thrives on gentle petting and affection. She’s been through a lot and is still adjusting to her new life, making her a special, resilient soul. A little mischievous at times, she can be quick to dash out an open door.  She’s a wonderful, low-key companion looking for her forever home! Click the Adopt tab, complete your application and ask for Alexandria as a pup of interest. Her adoption fee is $200

Woofer (Houston, TX)

At just 9 pounds, Woofer is a pint-sized bundle of charm looking for a second chance. This adorable 7-year-old Miniature Poodle mix found himself surrendered to a crowded shelter, but he hasn’t let that dim his happy spirit. Woofer is a friendly little guy who gets along well with other dogs and loves being around people. During his grooming session, he kept himself entertained by watching the other pups and wagging his tail nonstop. His cheerful personality is hard to resist! This sweet boy enjoys staying close to his human and thrives on companionship. Because he becomes vocal when left alone, he would do best in a home rather than an apartment setting. Meet Jeremy 💛

Jeremy is an approximately 11-year-old Miniature Schnauzer who was found collapsed in a greenbelt, severely matted and malnourished. After no owners could be located, rescue stepped in to give this sweet senior a second chance. Jeremy has since received veterinary care, a dental cleaning, and a cardiology evaluation. Today, he’s healthy enough to focus on what matters most: learning that the world can be a safe place again. Jeremy is a gentle, sensitive soul who takes time to trust. A calm, patient, adult-only home will help him continue building confidence and settle in at his own pace. The wonderful news is that Jeremy has been making remarkable progress in foster care. In just a few weeks, he has gone from hiding in his bed most of the day to exploring the house, playing with toys, following his foster mom around, mastering the stairs, and confidently moving in and out through the sliding glass door. He’s even started joining the resident dog in neighborhood watch duties and reconnecting with his inner Schnauzer. 😄Jeremy is also good with other dogs, house-trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. While Jeremy still needs patience and understanding, we’re seeing more of his sweet, playful personality every day. For the right person, helping him continue this journey will be incredibly rewarding. If you think Jeremy might be the perfect addition to your family, ask for Jeremy when you complete your application under the Adopt tab. Twirly loves curling up with her foster, and if belly rubs are involved, even better! She’s also a playful, curious pup who enjoys exploring, playing with toys, and having fun with other dogs. Twirly would love to have a canine friend to play with in her new home, but it’s certainly not a requirement. With plenty of love, playtime, and attention from her family, this happy little girl will be just as content being your one-and-only pup! Road trip, anyone? Twirly is very good in the car, so she could be a wonderful companion for a family who likes to take their pup along on adventures. Twirly hasn’t had the opportunity to spend time with cats or children yet, but she has such an easygoing nature that her foster believes she may adjust well with proper introductions. Twirly is ready for adoption and looking for someone who wants a little playmate, a little travel buddy, and a whole lot of snuggles. Could that be you? Click the Adopt tab, complete your application and ask for Twirly as a pup of interest. Adoption fee $400

First things first: Róisín is pronounced “Ro-sheen.” Her name is Irish for little rose, which seemed just perfect for this small, red, scruffy girl.  Her foster mom loves choosing unique names for her special pups, and this little redhead definitely needed a name as special as she is! While she may technically be a year old, nobody has told Róisín that she isn’t still a puppy! She is playful, curious, and has recently taken up interior decorating. Her specialty? Removing every toy from the toy box and carefully distributing them throughout the house. Apparently, Róisín believes a toy in every room really pulls the whole place together.  This sweet girl enjoys playing and romping with other dogs and would be happy to have a canine buddy in her new home, but another dog isn’t a requirement. She can also enjoy being the center of her family’s attention. Róisín is house- and kennel-trained and knows how to use a doggy door. Her foster mom still takes her outside regularly, which helps reinforce those good potty habits and prevents accidents. Róisín also does very well in the car. With her curious nature, she could make a wonderful little travel companion for someone who wants a pup to join them on outings, road trips, and new adventures. Of course, after all that playing, exploring, decorating, and traveling, there’s nothing wrong with settling in for some love and attention from her people. Róisín is a happy little redhead with plenty of puppy spirit, a touch of mischief, and a whole lot of personality. Our little Irish Rose is ready to bloom in a home of her very own. Could it be yours?  Click the Adopt tab, complete your application and ask for Roisin. Adoption fee $400

Bramble (Houston, TX)

🌿 Meet Bramble — One of the Woodland Five 🌿

Four-month-old Bramble is one of five scruffy little pups we affectionately call The Woodland Five: Bramble, Badger, Briar, Birch & Clover. These puppies had a beginning no dog should experience. All five were found locked together in a kennel that had been abandoned on the side of the street in the hot sun. Thankfully, they made their way to Schnauzer Rescue of Texas, and Bramble seems determined not to let his rough beginning define his story. At 15 pounds, Bramble is a happy, playful, loving puppy who gets along wonderfully with the other dogs in his foster home. His days are exactly what puppy days should be now: playing with his doggy friends, investigating everything around him, getting into a little harmless mischief, and then crashing for a well-earned puppy nap. Bramble also had his first haircut, and apparently he decided this grooming business wasn’t such a big deal. He handled it like a champ! Underneath all that puppy scruff was one very handsome little fellow. He’s kennel trained and currently working on his house-training skills. Like any four-month-old puppy, Bramble will need a family willing to continue teaching him all the things a growing pup needs to know. Most importantly, Bramble is a loving little guy who enjoys affection and being part of the action. He has plenty of puppy energy when it’s time to play, but there’s a sweet side underneath all that fun just waiting for his own family to love. His first chapter may have been rough, but Bramble’s next one is looking pretty wonderful. Maybe you’ll be the one who gets to write it with him. Click the Adopt tab, complete your application asking for Bramble as a pup of interest. Adoption fee: $600

Birch (Houston, TX)

🌳 Meet Birch — Our Stick-Collecting Woodland Boy! 🌳

Meet Birch, one of our adorable Woodland Five: Bramble, Badger, Briar, Birch and Clover. He’s 4 months old, about 15 pounds, and already proving that life with Birch is probably never going to be boring. Birch has discovered the doggy door! Does he understand that he’s supposed to use it to go outside for potty breaks? Well…we’re still working on that part. Does he understand that it provides convenient access to the backyard so he can bring sticks into the house? Absolutely. Birch and his four siblings didn’t have the beginning they deserved. They were found locked together in a kennel that someone had left on the side of the street in the hot sun. But those difficult beginnings haven’t taken away this little guy’s spirit. Now that he’s safe with SRT, Birch is busy doing what puppies are supposed to do: playing, exploring, wrestling with his doggy friends, collecting treasures from the backyard, getting lots of love, and napping hard after all that important puppy business. He’s playful and affectionate and gets along with all the other dogs in his foster home. Birch is kennel trained and still working on house training. He has mastered the mechanics of the doggy door. The purpose of the doggy door remains open to interpretation. Birch also experienced his very first haircut today. Unlike his brother Bramble, Birch took one look at this whole grooming situation and said, “NO WAY!” After a little persuasion, however, he finally gave in, and look at the handsome boy hiding underneath all that scruff! Birch will need a family ready for all the fun that comes with raising a puppy: continued house training, playtime, patience, plenty of affection, and perhaps a designated area for his growing stick collection. If you’re looking for a loving little guy with a big personality, a playful spirit, and his own unique approach to home decorating, Birch may just be your boy. Click the Adopt tab, complete your application and ask for Birch as a pup of interest. Adoption fee: $600

Anita (Houston, TX)

Anita is a 4-year-old, 10-lb Miniature Schnauzer who came out of a hoarding situation. When Anita first arrived at Schnauzer Rescue of Texas, she wasn’t in very good shape, was much too thin and missing hair across the back half of her body, and struggled with anxiety. But what a difference love, good food, and a safe place can make. Anita has made an incredible 180-degree turnaround! She’s gaining weight, her beautiful curly hair is growing back healthy, and her foster mom makes sure she gets some extra-special treats to help put a little more meat on those tiny bones. Best of all, Anita has discovered that she doesn’t have to be anxious anymore. Now she can concentrate on the important things in life, like digging through the toy box, roughhousing with her doggy pals, snuggling next to her foster mom, and being held for some good old-fashioned belly and body rubs. And then there are the squirrels. If your backyard has a squirrel or possum problem, Anita would like to submit her résumé. This girl can happily spend hours outside patrolling the yard, chasing squirrels, and making sure those pesky critters know exactly whose territory they’re entering! Anita is house- and kennel-trained and knows how to use a doggy door. Her foster mom also takes her outside regularly to help keep her successful and accident-free. She has lots of dog friends and enjoys having buddies to play with, but she would also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only. Anita hasn’t been around cats or children yet, although her foster mom feels her easy-going personality may allow her to do well with them after appropriate introductions. Anita came to SRT needing someone to take care of her. Now this sweet, funny little girl is healthy, happy, and ready for a family of her very own. Who’s ready to give Anita the next chapter she deserves?  Click the Adopt tab, on your application ask for Anita, as a pup of interest. Adoption fee $400

Boggie (Cypress, TX)

Meet Boggie, a charming 4-year-old schnauzer mix who’s ready to steal your heart! Weighing in at a delightful 18 lbs, this little guy has quite the story. Picture this: Boggie wandered into a random garage, snuggled up, and decided it was the perfect place to crash for the night! Luckily, his finder recognized his adorable personality and reached out to us to bring him into rescue. When Boggie arrived at SRT, he didn’t have any papers, collar, tags, or a microchip, and unfortunately, we haven’t been able to locate his previous family. However, this sweet pup’s past is behind him and he’s ready for a fresh start! While he may have arrived a bit worse for wear, with matted fur and some pesky fleas, he’s since transformed into a fluffy bundle of love. Boggie has shown himself to be a friendly companion, getting along wonderfully with other dogs and even little humans. He’s a charismatic character who comes when called, but watch out: he might have a flair for escaping, so a secure fenced yard is a must. This little rascal is a pro when it comes to bath time and grooming—he actually enjoys it! Playtime with his toys and snuggles with his favorite humans are his specialties. However, he isn’t a fan of crates, and we’re still fine-tuning his potty training. With his lovable personality, humor, and undeniable charm, Boggie is looking for a forever home where he can frolic, play, and cuddle to his heart’s content. Are you ready to welcome this pint-sized bundle of joy into your life? Click the Adopt tab, and ask for Boggie when you complete your application. Adoptio fee: $400

Gio (SugarLand TX)

Meet Gio, a 7-year-old, 18 lb. black and tan Miniature Schnauzer mix who was pulled from a totally overcrowded shelter where he was just terrified. Luckily, he has a nice foster mom who picked him up from the shelter. She has had him since mid-June as he had to go through heartworm treatment, which will be completed by mid-September. She’s found that he is house- and crate-trained, treat-oriented, good on the leash, and he sleeps through the night in his crate. He rarely barks and says he should be fine in an apartment. His foster has been teaching himnthings: sit, no, off and is working on wait and place.  He likes being brushed and follows everyone with a wagging tail. He loves to chase the squirrels,  a typical schnauzer prey drive. He was kennelled with another dog at the shelter and did great and was happy to have a companion pup. Gio is keeping his paws crossed for a wonderful new home. Click the Adopt tab, complete your application asking for Gio as a pup of interest. Adoption fee: $300

Escobar (Sugarland, TX)

Escobar is a 10-year-old, 19 lb Miniature Schnauzer who was found as a stray, and the finder had no success finding his owners. They turned to SRT to help him. Once he saw the vet, it was discovered he had heartworm disease, so in addition to getting neutered and a dental, he also has gone through heartworm treatment. He will be ready for adoption mid-September. He is a very playful boy,  loves toys, is fully house-trained, good on a leash, with a perpetually wagging tail nub. He’s a great dog and would make a wonderful family member. Click the Adopt tab and complete your application asking for Escobar. Adoption fee: $200

Coop (Austin, TX)

Meet Your New Best Friend! ❤️

Looking for a loyal little companion who just wants to love and be loved? This sweet 9-year-old Schnauzer mix might be the perfect match. At just 18 pounds, he’s the ideal size for cuddling—and cuddling is one of his favorite things! He’s incredibly affectionate, loves to give kisses, and is happiest curled up next to his favorite person. He’s also full of charming little quirks. Rather than chewing up his toys, he proudly carries his favorites around the house like treasured possessions. He loves spending time outside and takes his job of keeping squirrels out of the yard very seriously. If you have a dog door, he’ll happily use it, but he’s also perfectly content with a regular potty schedule. This handsome senior does have heart disease and will need medication for the rest of his life. He’s looking for someone with a big heart who can look past his diagnosis and see the wonderful dog he truly is. In return, he’ll reward you with endless affection, loyal companionship, and plenty of sweet kisses. He may not be a puppy, but what he offers is something even more special: a calm, loving best friend who’s ready to make every day brighter. Could you be the person he’s been waiting for? Schiatzi (Haslet, TX)

Meet Schiatzi, a very handsome 11-year-old, 26-pound black-and-white Miniature Schnauzer with a big heart and an even bigger zest for life. He’s playful, happy, and ready to enjoy his golden years with a loving family. Years ago his family added another dog, which means Schiatzi gets along well with canine friends, though their presence can trigger a marking tendency in new spaces. With a patient, experienced home, Schiatzi is a charming indoors buddy who is house- and crate-trained and settles nicely into a calm routine. He isn’t currently around children and, although he used to chase cats, he’s not interested in doing that anymore. He can be a little scared at the vet and at the groomer, but with gentle handling he does fine and relaxes once he trusts you. Above all, Schiatzi loves attention, belly rubs, and the comforting ritual of a daily routine followed by cozy cuddle time. Schiatzi deserves a retirement home where he’s cherished and treasured every day. If you’re an adult, dog-savvy home ready to provide steady love and patience, Schiatzi could be the perfect companion. Punkin (Denison, TX)

Meet Punkin, an 8-year-old, 12-pound Miniature Schnauzer with a heart full of love and golden years to cherish. After her owner passed away, a family friend stepped in, but they aren’t able to keep her long-term. Punkin is crate- and leash-trained, a quiet and polite companion who thrives on routine and gentle affection. She’s happily lived with kids and has always gotten along with other dogs—she grew up with two Schnauzers and a boxer, and she loved them all. Grooming is no trouble for this sweet girl, who enjoys a comfy grooming session and a tidy coat. When Punkin arrived, she was emaciated, but with steady meals and patient care she’s been gaining weight and feeling more like herself every day. Now she adores short walks, cozy cuddle time, and curling up by your side for quiet evenings. Punkin isn’t just a pet—she’s a loyal friend who will greet you with a wag and an “I’m here for you” sigh after a long day. His current owners think it would be best if he went to a home as your one and only. He’s also quite the protector when it comes to his territory and can be a little cautious around strangers. Whether you’re playing in the yard, going for a walk, or relaxing on the couch, Woofus wants nothing more than to be by your feet. A few weeks ago, Woofus was found wandering the streets, unkept, hungry, and clearly unsure of where he belonged. Based on the way he still braces himself when cars pass, it’s easy to imagine how frightened and alone he must have felt. Thankfully, a kind Good Samaritan brought him to safety, and when no owner came forward, rescue stepped in to give him the fresh start he deserved. Now healthy, groomed, safe, and ready for his forever family, Woofus is making up for lost time with plenty of tail wags, cuddles, and unconditional love.
