Meet Little Nessie — a tiny survivor with a huge heart. Nessie was found wandering the streets of Houston during bitterly cold weather, and a kind Good Samaritan stepped in just in time to keep her from freezing. This precious girl is about eight years old and now weighs a proud nine pounds (she was only seven pounds when rescued, but has been enjoying lots of good groceries!). Nessie appears to be an adorable mix of something sweet—likely with a little schnauzer in her. When she was rescued, Nessie had a large mass on her abdomen, but the good news is that it was not cancer and was successfully removed with no complications. She was also treated for a urinary tract infection and anemia. She goes back to the vet on 2/13 for a recheck, and we are expecting a great report. Nessie gets along beautifully with other dogs and absolutely loves curling up in her foster’s lap for long, cozy naps. She’s gentle, affectionate, and ready to trade survival mode for a warm lap and a forever home. If you’re looking for a loving little companion to share quiet moments and endless cuddles, be sure to ask for Nessie when you complete your application under the Adopt tab. . Her adoption fee is $300
