Dieter (Houston, TX

Dieter is a 3-year-old, 18 lb. Schnauzer mix. His name may mean “warrior of the people,” but don’t let that impressive name fool you. Our Dieter is much more interested in laps, kisses, friends, and a good old-fashioned case of the zoomies. Dieter and his sister, Bridie, have been on quite a journey together. They were being given away on Facebook when a rescue stepped in to help. Later, that rescue needed another organization to take over their care, and that’s when SRT welcomed Dieter and Bridie into the family. That’s a lot of change for two little dogs who didn’t get to choose any of it. But Dieter seems determined to take it all in stride. This sweetheart has settled beautifully into his foster home. He gets along with all of his foster siblings, is house-trained and kennel-trained, and has quickly discovered one of life’s greatest pleasures: a foster mom with an available lap. He also loves sitting outside on the swing with his foster mom, soaking up the fresh air and enjoying a little quiet time together. He’s the kind of boy who seems perfectly content just being wherever his person happens to be. But don’t mistake that cuddly personality for a couch potato! Every now and then, Dieter’s inner race car makes an appearance and THE ZOOMIES BEGIN and this fluffy little guy can move! One minute he’s beside you, and the next there’s a white blur racing by. Dieter has been through more changes than any dog should have to understand, but somehow he has held onto his wonderfully sweet nature. He’s affectionate, social, playful, and happiest when he’s spending time with the people and dogs around him. His name may belong to a warrior, but Dieter isn’t looking for another battle. He’s looking for a family. A lap. A swing with room for two. And a place where this little warrior can finally put down his shield and know that he’s home for good.  Ask for Dieter when you complete your application under the Adopt tab.
