I’m Beanie Baby, a female salt and pepper Miniature Schnauzer who is about a year old and weighs about six pounds with natural ears and tail. Yes, that’s right, I weigh six pounds and not because I want to be the next Twiggy. I’ve been dealing with some GI issues for quite some time and my former owner contacted SRT to help me. They didn’t have the money to take me to the vet and I was sick for about a month and lost weight I couldn’t afford to lose. SRT’s vets were treating all my symptoms, but I wasn’t improving so they paid for a GI panel which was a very expensive test. The results showed I have a viral infection called Circovirus and two secondary bacterial infections. I’ve been getting supportive treatments for about six weeks to help correct any imbalances in my immune system. The bacterial infections were Clostridium perfringens which can cause diarrhea in dogs. The severity of the diarrhea can range from mild to life-threatening. And Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin that causes gastrointestinal (GI) diseases. I’m improving, but it is definitely slow going. My foster mom thinks I’m adorable and I love to snooze in her lap in the evenings. I’m perfectly fine with other dogs. Seems I’m good being groomed, but it was difficult since I’m mostly skin and bones. I’m working on gaining weight. Stay tuned for updates.
