Meet Birdie, a 3-year-old, 28 lb fluffy sweetheart. They say an Irish home is filled with warmth, laughter, and love—and our sweet Bridie (pronounced Bry-dee) is looking for exactly that kind of home. This little girl has already had far too many changes in her young life. Bridie and her brother were being given away on Facebook when a rescue stepped in to help them. When that rescue later needed another organization to take over their care, SRT welcomed them in. So Bridie has been passed from place to place, through no fault of her own. With all those changes, she can be understandably shy when she first meets someone new. She needs a little time to figure out where she is and whether the people around her can be trusted. But give this girl a little patience, and the real Bridie begins to appear. And oh, is she worth waiting for. Once Bridie decides you’re one of her people, this shy little girl turns into a big, cuddly teddy bear. She’ll seek you out just to be near you, and she’s always looking for an opportunity to sneak in a few kisses. Once she’s comfortable, she also loves playing with other dogs and letting her silly, happy side come out. Bridie is house trained and kennel trained, although she would like it officially noted that the kennel is not her favorite place. She may lodge a small protest about going inside until you produce a treat. Apparently, Bridie’s principles are negotiable when snacks are involved. Bridie wasn’t particularly happy about the grooming experience, so she will need a patient groomer. After so much change, what Bridie needs now is something wonderfully simple: A person who stays. A home that becomes familiar. And a family she never has to leave again. Give her a little time to feel safe, and we think you’ll discover that underneath all that fur is one incredibly affectionate little girl who has been waiting to belong. Maybe Bridie has finally reached the end of her travels—and her next stop will be home. Complete your application under the Adopt tab and ask for Birdie. Adoption fee: $400
